PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE 2017 SCOTTISH CHRISTMAS
WALK PARADE
For the 47th consecutive year, The Campagna Center is presenting its annual
Scottish Christmas Walk Parade in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday,
December 2, 2017 starting at 11:00 AM. All members and their Airedales are
invited to come march with the Airedale Terrier Club of Metropolitan Washington,
DC. Even if you are just an Airedale supporter and fan, please come and support
our beloved dogs. Enjoy marching units filled with the magnificent tartans of
Scottish Clans, the stirring sound of Scottish bagpipes and drums, Scottish dancers,
reenactment groups, Scottie dogs, dignitaries, classic cars, Santa Claus, and much
more. The parade begins at St. Asaph and Wolfe Streets and concludes at Market
Square with a massed band concert. The parade will take place rain or shine. We
will provide more details on specifically where and when we will assemble when we
get closer to the event. Please direct any questions to club member Wilder Leavitt
at wilderleavitt@gmail.com.
Airedales and the handlers will assemble in the 400 block of South Pitt Street between Wolfe Street and Wilkes Street. The parade steps off at 11:00, but we encourage early, perhaps by 10:00, because parking tends to fill up early. The parade route map that also includes the location parking lots.

Alexandria's Scottish Walk Christmas Parade where all the breeds originating in the British Isles are invited to participate. It is a great chance for your Airedale to strut its stuff, do a few tricks, get pats from kids, and inspect open bags along the parade route. Several years ago, the parade organizers put us next to the Scotties. Lots of discussions among the canines as to which was the finer breed. We won’t be next to them again.

We will have a luncheon on November 8th in Alexandria. Drs. Hinn and Embrey will speak on wellness. As always, I expect we will hear their views on advances in vet care of canines, especially Airedales.
