Saturday December 4, 2021 Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade

For the 50th year, The Campagna Center is presenting its annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday, December 4, 2021 starting at 11:00 AM. All members, their friends, and friends of Airedales are invited to come march with the Airedale Terrier Club of Metropolitan Washington, DC. Please bring your dogs and show your holiday spirit. Even if you are just an Airedale supporter and fan, please come and support our beloved dogs. Enjoy parading along with marching units filled with the magnificent tartans of Scottish clans, the stirring sound of Scottish bagpipes and drums, Scottish dancers, reenactment groups, dogs with heritages from all over the British Isles and Ireland, dignitaries, classic cars, Santa Claus, and much more.

The parade begins at St. Asaph and Wolfe Streets and concludes at Market Square with a massed band concert. The parade will take place rain or shine. Please plan to wear something representative of the ATCMW, the United Kingdom, and/or the Airedale Terrier. We provide decorative ruffs for the dogs to wear. We will provide more details on specifically where and when we will assemble when we receive that information from the Campagna Center about one week before the event. Please direct any questions to club member Wilder Leavitt at [email protected].

The weather is going to cooperate and so the picnic is ON!!

If you have not already contacted Jeanne Esmond that you are coming, please do so at [email protected] so we have an accurate headcount and enough food available for everyone!

Trick Dog Novice testing will begin at 10:00 am, but come early to socialize and warm your dog up for the test.

A sign and balloons will be up at the Pavilion entrance to the park.

Picnic Update

Posted by Karl Broom on September 12, 2018 at 6:00 PM

This morning, our club president sent the message below. It looks more and more likely that the hurricane will not hit us and the picnic should be a go. But check back tomorrow afternoon for an update.

------

There appears to be a number of different ideas about how much impact Hurricane Florence is going to have on our area. The latest seems to be that we will have very little impact here other than some rain, and not much of that either. The ATCMW Board will make its final decision tomorrow and will let everyone know if the picnic is still going to be held. Since this picnic is also our annual membership meeting where we hold our election for next year’s officers, it’s an important function as well as a really fun one!

Even if we don’t have rain on Saturday, the grounds around the covered Pavilion will be soaked, so pull out your rain shoes in preparation!
