Our barn should be the third from the Show Building, look for our sign. The barn will be available all day for grooming, eating, relaxing, and visiting. There are electrical outlets. Bring your own chairs and extension cords. Your Airedales are welcome. Coffee and doughnuts will be available before judging and Luncheon will be served after the Airedale judging.

The afternoon will feature a picnic.  Please bring your own utensils, and paper plates. Nora Dudman will call to coordinate food and drinks. We will have a covered pavilion with tables and benches, and there are lots of trees.  Please bring the family.

DON’T Forget:

Bowls and water for your dogs, and chairs for you to use by the ring.

Washington Beltway to the exit for US Rt. 1 South, toward College Park.  Rt.1 for just over a mile; then MD Rt. 193 West, toward the MD Univ. Stadium. After a little more than 2 miles, turn left onto Metzerott Rd.. (The sign on the right will say Boetler Lane. The turn is just before the traffic light at Azalea.).  Follow Metzerott Rd. and turn left into the parking lot by the red brick pavilion.

Our grooming workshops are offered to provide Airedale owners (club, non-club, pet or show) with an opportunity to learn hands-on grooming techniques in a group setting.  Handouts on grooming supplies, vendors, equipment suggestions and grooming diagrams will be available for all attendees.

CLIPPING – Our grooming sessions for 2010 will feature a live demonstration of clipping an Airedale.  After the clipping demo, attendees will then work on clipping their dog.

STRIPPING – A stripping video may be viewed or borrowed from the grooming coordinator for those interested in learning to strip an Airedale.  The grooming coordinator will work and demo stripping techniques with individuals.

YOU MUST RSVP TO ATTEND A GROOMING SESSION(S)!

Let the Grooming Coordinator know which grooming session or sessions you will attend, your preferred method of grooming (clipping/stripping) and the number of dogs you will bring.  Your dog(s) should arrive combed out, tangle free and freshly bathed (bath doesn’t have to have been that morning).  A clean coats make grooming easier and will extend the life of your clipper blades/grooming tools.

What to Bring:

  • Clean Airedale on lead
  • Water bowl
  • Grooming table and arm (hopefully you have these, if not let coordinator know when you RSVP)
  • Grooming tools (clipper, blades, comb, palm brush, scissors, stripping knives if stripping)
  • Upon arrival at the workshop location – exercise your dog before coming in – use the grassy space opposite the parking lot, being sure to clean up after your dog.  Dumpster available at end of parking lot.
  • Be prepared to clean up your dog hair after grooming and before departure.
