<p>Airedale Judging will begin at 8:00 am, in Ring 10, which is the building <span style="text-decoration: underline;">behind</span> the vendors, not the main building. There are 9 Airedales, 4 dogs, 3 bitches and 2 specials.</p>
<p>We have asked for Barn 4 for our luncheon, which is close to both the judging building (if you are up that early!) and the vendors! This is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping for all things dog, including artwork, jewelry, toys, clothing, grooming equipment (including blade sharpening), beds, and lots of collars and leashes.</p>
<p>Our lunch will begin around 11:30 am and rumor has it that the famous Airedale Cake will make an appearance once again this year! <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Plan on bringing a dish to share with everyone.</span> Our excellent Social Coordinator, Nora Dudman, is still singing the praises of our members who attended the picnic at Frying Pan Park and were so generous with their contributions of food that her job was made almost easy. Let’s keep her happy!  Contact Nora by email or phone to let her know what you are bringing or to ask what is still needed (<a title="E-mail Nora Dudman" href="mailto:ndudman@comcast.net">ndudman@comcast.net</a> or 410-485-7820).</p>
<p>Bring a chair, your dog (a portable crate?), water for your dog, your luncheon dish and money for the vendors.</p>
<p>Airedale Square is always great fun. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere, with lots of time to visit with friends that we don’t get to see on a regular basis, and to meet new people, both members and non members alike. Please join us.</p>

<p>Join us for a relaxed day with our dogs at Frying Pan Park, we have rented a Pavilion covered area that will protect us from the sun (or rain, if that is the case!). We’ll begin the day with coffee and donuts and the chance to run your dog through a Rally Obedience course. Someone will be available to talk you through the obstacles if it is your first time.</p>
<p>Then we’ll try our hand at teaching our dogs some simple tricks. Many tricks are easy to teach and you’ll get simple, step by step instructions that you can use to continue training your dog at home.</p>
<p>Our meeting will include our annual elections. </p>

Take Route 95 North to exit 41B, MD Route 175 West.  Go <strong>straight through</strong> the light at Route 108,  <strong>pass</strong> the exit for Gateway Drive, get in Right lane, take the next exit for Snowden River Parkway – stay in the Left exit lane.  Turn Left onto Snowden River Parkway, Turn Left at the second light (sign says “shopping center” and leads into the shopping center on the left).  After turning Left, make first Right onto access road that passes gas station on right.  Go to Stop sign, turn Left onto access road.  Follow access road around to Bertucci’s on the Right after the Goodwill store.  If you miss the access road turn, go into the shopping center on the right (B.J.’s) and drive through to the stop for a cross road.  Turn Right and that road runs into Bertucci’s.</p>
<p><strong>Directions from West of Columbia:</strong><br />

<p>When judging is done, Joan Schessler will give a demonstration of Canine Scent Work followed by an opportunity for all of our Airedales to have a go at it! For more info on this new canine sport, click on this link! <a href="http://www.nacsw.net/">http://www.nacsw.net/</a> This is a first for our gathering and I’m excited about it!</p>
<p><strong>Some ground rules for this activity:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>NO PRIOR TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE NECESSARY FOR EITHER DOG OR HUMAN!!!</li>
<li>All equipment will be provided, but you should bring REALLY good treats. The A list of treats!!  Real meat and such, not biscuits or kibble.</li>
<li>Dogs should be on a flat collar. Long leashes will be provided.</li>
<li>In fairness to the dog whose turn it is to work, all other dogs will be required to be in crates or out of the area until it is his/her turn! Please be prepared for that by providing exercise pens or crates for all dogs with you during this activity.</li>
</ul>
<p>I will be available to test for the CGC award for anyone who would like to do so. It would be helpful to me if you would email that you’d like to do so. You can reach me at mailto:clickertrain@verizon.net</p>
<p>Bring water and bowls for your dogs, chairs for you, and don’t forget to call or email Nora Dudman to coordinate food. Everyone should plan on bringing SOMETHING so that the job of feeding our group doesn’t fall on one person! <p>February 13, 2011 and March 27, 2011</h3>
<p>We offer our grooming workshops to provide Airedale owners (club, non-club, pet or show) with an opportunity to learn hands-on grooming techniques in a group setting.  We provide handouts on grooming supplies, vendors, equipment suggestions and grooming diagrams for all attendees.</p>
<p><strong>Clipping</strong></p>
<p>Our grooming sessions for 2011 will spotlight grooming an Airedale’s hind legs.</p>
<p><strong>Stripping</strong></p>
<p>A stripping video is available and may be viewed or borrowed from the grooming coordinator for those interested in learning to strip an Airedale. The grooming coordinator will work and demo stripping techniques for interested parties. Please mention your interest in stripping when you RSVP.</p>
<h3>Please RSVP by 2/10/11 for February session or 3/20/11 for March grooming session!</h3>
<p>Please let the Grooming Coordinator know which session or sessions you will attend, your preferred method of grooming (clipping/stripping) and the number of dogs you will bring. Your dog(s) should arrive combed out, tangle free and freshly bathed (bath doesn’t have to have been that morning). A clean coat makes grooming easier and will extend the life of your clipper blades/grooming tools.</p>

<li>Clean Airedale on lead</li>
<li>Water bowl</li>
<li>Grooming table and arm (hopefully you have these, if not let coordinator know when you RSVP)</li>
<li>Grooming tools: clipper, blades, comb, palm brush, scissors, stripping knives if stripping</li>
</ul>
<p>Please exercise your dog before coming in. Use the grassy space opposite the parking lot. Be sure to clean up after your dog. (Dumpster is available at end of parking lot.)</p>

<li>Be prepared to clean up your dog hair after grooming and before departure.</li>
</ul>

<p>Take I 495 to I 270 North to Clopper Road (exit 10). At bottom of exit ramp make a RIGHT on to Clopper Road (route 117). Cross over Bureau Drive, Quince Orchard Road and Firstfield Road. Make a RIGHT on to Metropolitan Grove Road (watch for MVA sign). Make the first LEFT on to Metropolitan Court. Go past the large parking lot on your right. Stay to your right and enter the parking area for 5 Metropolitan Court – Grooming facility is the last doorway to your right and is numbered 5-4 over the door. There will be a round wooden picnic table out front.</p>
