Airedale Grooming Workshops
Sundays, February 1 and March 1, 2009
1:00  pm to 4:00 pm

Our grooming workshops are offered to provide Airedale owners (whether club, non-club, pet or show) with an opportunity to learn about hands-on grooming techniques and to do so in a group setting. You will find there are many different methods, styles and opinions on how to groom an Airedale. Handouts for grooming supplies and vendors, equipment suggestions and grooming diagrams will be available to all attendees.

Both of our grooming sessions for 2009 will feature a live demonstration of techniques and tools to teach you how to clip your own Airedale. After the demonstration, attendees will then work on clipping their own dogs. A stripping video may be viewed or borrowed from the grooming coordinator for those interested in learning to strip an Airedale. The grooming coordinator will work with those attendees interested in learning stripping techniques.

YOU MUST RSVP to attend the grooming session(s)! Let the Grooming Coordinator know which grooming session(s) you will attend, your preferred method of grooming (clipping, stripping) and the number of dogs you will bring. Your dog should arrive combed out, tangle free and freshly bathed (bath doesn’t have to have been that morning!) Clean coats make grooming easier and will extend the life of your clipper blades/grooming tools.

TO RSVP:

Contact Grooming Coordinator Nancy Flowers at 410-935-8548 or email flowers@umbc.edu

Location: Building 5, 5-4 Metropolitan Court, Gaithersburg, MD 20877

Fee: $10.00 per dog (cash or check made payable to ATCMW)

What to Bring:

  • Clean Airedale on lead
  • Water bowl
  • Grooming table and arm (hopefully you have these, if not let coordinator know when you RSVP)
  • Grooming tools (clipper, blades, comb, palm brush, scissors, stripping knives if stripping)
  • Upon arrival at the workshop location – exercise your dog before coming in – use the grassy space opposite the parking lot, being sure to clean up after your dog. Dumpster available at end of parking lot.
